Bondi’s iconic restaurant Icebergs is opening in a surprising second location

Opening mid 2025, Icebergs Bar + Kitchen will have the same Icebergs DNA, but restaurateur Maurice Terzini will be swapping the sea for the sky

Since swinging open its doors in 2002, Bondi’s Icebergs Dining Room and Bar has become as much a part of the Sydney landscape as everyone’s favourite house with sails. It’s big news that owner and restaurateur Maurice Terzini has announced the opening of a casual spin-off of the city’s famous restaurant by mid-2025. However, in a surprising move – and one sure to please jet setters – Terzini is swapping the turquoise ocean for the tarmac. That’s right, Icebergs Bar + Kitchen will be opening at Sydney airport – at Terminal 3 to be exact – as a collaboration with food and beverage operator Airport Retail Enterprises. Airport eats and drinks never sounded so good.

While it won’t be a traditional restaurant, Icebergs Bar + Kitchen will embody the same look and feel as the original icon, with Terzini once again partnering with Carl Pickering, the Rome-based architect behind Icebergs. Expect a timeless, elegant space adorned in sea greens and cool blues reminiscent of Icebergs. Just don’t miss your flight.

As the majority of the airport’s food and drink trade happens in the morning, Icebergs Bar + Kitchen will cater to this demand, with an emphasis on excellent coffee, Italian breakfast plates, fresh pastries and grab-and-go options. One can only hope the Iceberger, Iceberg’s cracking cheeseburger, makes it onto the menu.

And because this is Icebergs, and the airport we’re talking about – where 7am is a perfectly acceptable time for a glass of Champagne – there’s going to be a bar.

It’s been a busy few months for Terzini, who opened Italian haven Snack Kitchen in Potts Point with son Sylvester, as well as the swish and smart Bistro George. And now we've got this to look forward to.

All we can say is: mid-2025 can’t come fast enough. Trip to Tassie, anyone?
