[title]Looking for a fun and exciting way to celebrate World Dream Day on September 25? To mark the return of Lego Dreamzzz season 2, part 2, the Lego Group is teaming up with dream psychologist Ian Wallace to teach kids how to ‘dream craft’ just like the show’s heroes – Mateo, Izzy, Cooper, Logan and Zoey.
In the first part of Lego Dreamzzz season 2, the high-schoolers-turned-dream-chasers learned how to harness the power of dream crafting by creating different items to help defeat the Never Witch and protect the dream world. Similarly, Wallace has found (after 30 years of analysing more than 400,000 dreams) that kids can use ‘dream crafting’ in the real world to steer their dreams away from scary things and make sleep more enjoyable.
Not only does dream crafting encourage a better night's sleep, but it also helps kids boost their creativity, imagination, and self-confidence by showing them they have the power to shape their dreams.
Here are some tips to get started. First, Wallace suggests the method of ‘Dream Play’ which requires kids to analyse an image from a dream as they’re waking. Secondly, they can use ‘Imaginal Play’ which focuses on playing around with the remembered image. Lastly, encourage your child to ‘Active Play’ by having them reenact the image from their dreams in the real world.
The better your sleep quality, the better the quality of dreams. So, Wallace also recommends turning your bedroom into a haven that is cool and dark with minimal distractions to enhance the power of your imagination.
According to a recent global study from the Lego Group, only about half (57 per cent) of kids are even aware they can guide their dreams, with only one in three kids having actually given it a go. For World Dream Day, Lego Dreamzzz and its creative director Cerim Manovi are encouraging kids to bring the wonder of dreams into their daily lives and play time.
Cerim Manovi said, “As we celebrate World Dream Day, we are reminded of the power that our dreams bring to the world. At the Lego Group we are encouraging everyone to freely explore and witness their creative powers, so let’s turn bedtime into an adventure full of possibilities!”.
As the final episodes drop, kids can get ready to reunite with the dream world with imaginative tasks. Grab some colourful pens, paper and all sorts of arts and craft materials (or even some Lego bricks) and let your little ones turn their dreams into vision boards or short stories.
During a recent trip Down Under, Manovi, the Danish-born creative director, headed to Sydney’s flagship Lego store where kids (and parents in tow) were invited to a Night Bureau Adventure takeover event. While a regular trip to the Lego store is sure to make any kid's day, the two-storey location became a dreamlike playground, complete with colourful bean bags for lounging and Lego-shaped lunch boxes for snacking. Fans of the show were able to swap re-runs at home for an in-person meet and greet with Mateo appearing on a giant screen to answer questions. The voice actor behind Mateo, Marcos Cardenas, also made a special appearance. The unforgettable day wrapped up with an interactive play session where Manovi challenged the kids to build their dreams out of Lego bricks.
To top it all off, every kid took home a backpack of goodies, which included one of the nine new Lego Dreamzzz sets. The new range is available to buy in stores, online or from select leading retailers around the world and includes Zoey’s Cat Motorcycle, Logan the Mighty Panda, Cooper’s Robot Dinosaur and more.
